上次買到Kingston V100 SSD 那顆大地雷之後,這次在網路爬文吸收固態硬碟相關知識,終於決定購買美光M4 SSD.
礙於經費有限只能購買64GB.




↘美國不再只重視研發開始恢復基層製造業,Made in china已不是唯一.



↘我到電腦商場購買美光M4時,某屋拿出外包裝沒有青雲國際代理貼紙與捷元的條碼實品,我詢問店員代理商是哪一家,店員查電腦打電話詢問讓我罰站十分鐘仍沒有答案,最後隨便報一下代理商名稱給我.
我轉向隔壁店家購買青雲國際代理貨,進口3C商品國內代理商非常重要,三年保固至少故障找得到代理商.




↘新加坡製
Micron M4採用Marvell 88SS9174主控晶片與ONFI-2.2同步NAND FLASH.





↘由於主機板只有SATAII介面,以Botracer 檢測M4開機速度20±3秒不等,其實這並不準確,BIOS檢測時間致使要再加上五秒,比起Kingston V100 29~30秒差不多.
SSD開機速度取決於你安裝多少應用程式,開機時載入長駐程式增加開機時間,長駐程式可以使用msconfig.exe將其關閉(尤其是越來越肥的Adobe Reader).

↘開機總時間29.8秒,SSD實際開機僅7秒,其餘都是應用程式開機長駐程式載入時間.

↘下圖AD值『耗損資源撫平次數』非常重要,Secure Erase 全盤安全抹除一次AD值就會加1,等於全碟NAND顆粒P/E抹除次數加1.
25nm NAND 顆粒壽命約3000次,沒事不要刪除SSD分割區與Format,免得Host Write 寫入壽命未盡SSD卻先掛了.

B5與BD值僅供參考不具任何意義.








↘SATAIII SSD插在 SATAII速度減半很正常.




↘AMD 785G主機板的SB710南僑晶片先天限制,更新最新版AHCI 11.9驅動也未能改善,我對4K讀/寫速度非常不滿意,ACC.time倒是非常犀利.
將美光M4 SSD幾乎填滿資料之後測試4K讀取才是實際速度.
4KB讀取讀取速度由SSD上的碎片分佈狀況決定.
AS SSD Benchmark不是取最大值作為最後數據,這套測試軟體是好幾年前的產物.



↘以我的個性錢已經花在刀口上,電腦性能一定會設法逼出最佳性能.
此圖為單純重新安裝Win7 只有微軟本身AHCI驅動未安裝其他驅動與軟體,空碟測試4K寫入能力可達到41.03MB/s.
Acc.time 有0.097ms,Score評分高達641分,4K-64Thrd數據卻有爆衝現象.
Acc.Time延遲時間也隨著使用容量的增加而有所上升.
為何Read Acc.time有0.097ms這種表現呢?
因為空碟內無資料,只是資料由暫存記憶體傳輸到主控晶片的速度,Acc.time延遲時間幾乎等於零,這並非測試NAND實際速度.
4K-64Thrd 291.76MB/s 幾乎是SATA II 3Gb/s全速,原因同上.




2012年1月13日美光釋出0309版重大BUG韌體更新,修復通電5184小時以上會出現藍底白字錯誤畫面.

Change Log:

  • Changes made in version 0002 (m4 can be updated to revision 0309 directly from either revision 0001, 0002, or 0009)
  • Correct a condition where an incorrect response to a SMART counter will cause the m4 drive to become unresponsive after 5184 hours of Power-on time. The drive will recover after a power cycle, however, this failure will repeat once per hour after reaching this point. The condition will allow the end user to successfully update firmware, and poses no risk to user or system data stored on the drive.

This firmware update is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for drives in the field. Although the failure mode due to the SMART Power On Hours counter poses no risk to saved user data, the failure mode can become repetitive, and pose a nuisance to the end user. If the end user has not yet observed this failure mode, this update is required to prevent it from happening.

If you are using a SAS Expander please do not download this Firmware. As soon as we have a Firmware Update that will work in these applications we will release it.


↘將0309版新韌體ISO檔燒錄到光碟片後選擇由光碟開機,輸入yes開始升級韌體,約幾秒鐘後出現Finished跳出A:\>即完成升級.






 



安裝步驟:
1.下載DOS下更新的韌體ISO檔燒錄到光碟

2.選擇光碟開機,輸入yes直至出現下圖A:\即更新完成.

Firmware 070H is recommended for anyone currently running 040H or previous firmware releases. It includes incremental improvements and refinements over these versions which may improve the overall user experience.

 

Like recent firmware versions, version 070H has improvements over versions 000F which are specific for Windows 8 and new UltraBook systems, although systems running Windows 7 and other operating systems may also see improvements. Any m4 firmware version will function normally in Windows 8, even without these performance improvements.

 

The following is a summary of changes between 040H and 070H, which are independent of operating system:

 

  • Resolved a power-up timing issue that could result in a drive hang, resulting in an inability to communicate with the host computer. The hang condition would typically occur during power-up or resume from Sleep or Hibernate. Most often, a new power cycle will clear the condition and allow normal operations to continue. The failure mode has only been observed in factory test. The failure mode is believed to have been contained to the factory. This fix is being implemented for all new builds, for all form factors, as a precautionary measure. The fix may be implemented in the field, as desired, to prevent occurrence of this boot-time failure. To date, no known field returns have been shown to be related to this issue. A failure of this type would typically be recoverable by a system reset.

 

 

 

 



結論:
1. 測試連續讀寫能力要空碟測試.
某些主控晶片為了增加賣點,不管是搭配容量多大的SSD都會標示同樣驚人的連續寫入速度,其實是先將資料經過主控晶片壓縮過後的寫入速度,只要實際寫入大量零碎資料其速度馬上破功.
SSD連續寫入速度與SSD的NAND顆粒數量(通道)成正比,SSD容量越大速度越快,可以比喻成高速公路兩線道與四線道原理,車道越多車流量越多.

2. 測試Acc.time延遲時間必須全碟幾乎寫滿資料後測試.
延遲時間就像國道收費站,人工收費與電子收費方式間接影響車流量,整條高速公路都沒車加上遇到國道免收費時段,當然幾乎沒有延遲時間.

3. 影響4K讀寫速度的因素太多,南僑晶片種類、節能是否關閉、原生SATA介面、TRIM、NCQ、4K是否對齊,影響層面太多無法一一累訴.

M4復活大法這方法是在M4出現BIOS找不到固態硬碟等情況下使用,具體步驟:

1:先關機把SSD的SATA線拔下。

2:在只接上電源線的情況下開機,讓SSD閒置20-30分鐘。
(只要單獨外接電源讓SSD通電,電腦不開機也可以)

3:把1、2步重複1、2次後,關機,接上SATA線再重新開機。

4:重新檢測到SSD,修復成功,若還不行,可重複以上步驟多幾次,若始終不行只能送修.

基本上只要SSD不是因硬體損壞而導致BIOS找不到SSD,此方法都能修復。
